Homecoming Spotlight

After representing London at UNESCO Cities of Music around the world, musician John Fellner returns home to share stories from his travels and perform for his hometown audience. Drawing on his experiences as an international ambassador for London, he will reflect on the opportunities and insights gained from being an artist in a UNESCO City of Music. This intimate performance combines storytelling and music, blending local pride with global inspiration.

VENUExVENUE Spotlight

We're thrilled to announce that 7x JUNO award nominee, Ammoye, will be featured during an official VENUExVENUE spotlight at WORDS & Music Concert. Known for her powerful voice and genre-blending style. At the forefront of her genre domestically and making waves internationally, Ammoye is easily cast as one of Canada’s best Reggae and fusion vocalists and considered by many music tastemakers as Canadian Reggae’s “Next Big Thing”. With an impressive stage presence to match her powerful and soulful vocals, Ammoye delivers uplifting messages of love, unity, and social justice. Ammoye's songs speak to themes of compassion, forgiveness, empowerment, and the importance of standing up for what is right.

  • The event will be hybrid: you can join us onsite at Wolf Performance Hall or online via Zoom Webinar! Your registration here is good for either an online or onsite ticket.

In November of 2021, London stepped onto the international stage as Canada’s first UNESCO City of Music. Now local artists take the spotlight as London celebrates the fourth anniversary of the UNESCO designation.

Over the course of the evening, our feature singer-songwriters will speak candidly about the art of songwriting through their personal experience and insight. We will begin with a discussion featuring 4 local songwriters who will explore how they transform thoughts, feelings, and ideas into lyrics and music. Our panel of artists will then pick up their instruments and perform intimate, scaled down renditions of their music, explaining how they wrote their songs and the meaning behind their lyrics.

London is a member of the largest cultural network on the planet and one of 75 UNESCO Creative Cities of Music. Music brings community together and through this designation, London is using music to drive positive change in our community.

Words & Music is sponsored by the Words Festival, the London Music Office, Tourism London and the Wolf Hall.
