London UNESCO City of Music Highlighted in Public Art Projects

New downtown public art projects were recently unveiled spanning a variety of creative disciplines, areas of the downtown and the showcasing of local creative talent - as part of The City of London’s Public Art and Monument Program.

London's UNESCO City of Music designation is a highlight of two projects, bringing awareness to the title and celebrating the local music community.

Local London artists took part in the Rapid Transit Urban Infrastructure Art Project, including Tova Hasiwar, whose 'London UNESCO City of Music' mural hangs on the roof of the Wellingon and King St. bus shelter, enhancing their original artwork on display at RBC Place London. This project aims to beautify new public infrastracture through local connection.

The Songlines Public Art and Music Project aims to support the development of London’s visual artists and musicians while promoting London as Canada’s first UNESCO City of Music. Supported by the Rotary Club of London, this initiative features artwork by local artists, each paired with a Songlines QR Code. The code directs viewers to the London Music Office’s Spotify channel, which features songs by local musicians.

All projects are completed through the City of London's Public Art Program managed by the Culture Services Division and administered through the London Arts Council.
