SesquiFest Wrap-Up

2017 was a huge year, not only for Canada, but for the city of London as well.

To usher in our country’s 150th year, London was the hosting city to SesquiFest – 5 Days of Fun for Canada 150, a 5-day music festival commemorating national, provincial and regional culture. With each day tailored to a different aspect of Canadian culture, the festival featured 318 local artists and over 500 performers during its entire run!

To honour the memory of our country’s 150th and SesquiFest, we’re delighted to bring you one last overview each festival day accompanied by a highlight album – enjoy!

SesquiFest – Day One: Talbot Street Takeover (June 29)

Organized by a committee of London’s young and ambitious music scene aficionados (ages 15-25), Talbot Street Takeover showcased local bands and musicians that also fit this demographic.

With 14 acts in total, the entire day was filled with energy and included two special guest headliners: Neon Dreams & Hollerado!

SesquiFest – Day Two: Best Of Ontario (June 30)

Arranged through London Music Office’s Music Cities Exchange program, and to embrace Ontario’s culture, this event featured 16 acts from across the province. The night came to a wrap with a headlining set by Ontario pop star, Fefe Dobson!

SesquiFest – Day Three: Canada 150 (July 1)

Celebrating Canada’s 150th year as a nation, this day offered a wide array of multicultural performers as well as several musicians near and far.

The day came to an end with an incredible performance by London supergroup, The Jack Richardson Orchestra, breathing new life into classic Canadian hits!

SesquiFest – Day Four: Centennial ’67 Day  (July 2)

Looking back at the Expo ’67 and centennial celebrations, this day recreated and preserved the energy that took place 50 years ago! This event brought in a whopping total of 19 performers and musicians, making it the biggest, loudest way to wrap up the day!

To mark a historic occasion, Canadian rock legends, Sloan, not only headlined but packed all of Dundas from Talbot to Ridout!

SesquiFest – Day Five: Best Of London (July 2)

With SesquiFest coming to a close, the final day was filled with activities and local vendors for all to partake. The Sesqui Dome (the main attraction) took in its final crowds for the 'Horizon' 360 experience.

There was much fun to be had and the memories continue to live on!

Thanks for tuning in for the wrap-up. We hope you had as much fun reliving the memories as we have sharing them.

Stay safe!
