The Aeolian Announces National Song Writing Competition Winners!

We are thrilled to share that the Aeolian has announced its National Song Writing Competition Winners! Congratulations to John Fellner (London), Justin Maki (London) and Roxanne Chartrand (Sainte-Adele, Québec)! For full details, check out the press release below.
MEDIA RELEASE:
"As a UNESCO City of Music, The Aeolian is proud to support the development of artists with its second annual Song Writing Competition. This year, the competition went national. Judges included esteemed and celebrated song writer Marc Jordan, and Oscar Peterson’s daughter Céline Peterson. Of the many entries, the judges awarded as follows:
First Place: John Fellner, London Ontario
Second Place: Justin Maki, St. Thomas Ontario
Third Place: Roxanne Chartrand, Sainte-Adele, Québec
Roxanne Chartrand:
"It's a beautiful confirmation, to be heard on causes that are so close to me and be given helpful support to share it with the world. I am extremely grateful!"
Justin Maki:
"I feel very honoured and grateful to receive such a prestigious award. As an internationally designated music city, the competition in London, Ontario is tough: we have so many fantastic writer's here, so it's encouraging to know that I write material that measures up. Thank you to the Aeolian Hall and all those involved in facilitating this competition. I will use this win as further confirmation that I should keep going. Also, a huge shout-out to David Carruther's who inspired the song idea."
John Fellner:
“I’m incredibly honoured and full of gratitude to discover that I am the winner of Aeolian’s second annual songwriting contest. As a Londoner, The Aeolian holds such a special place in my heart, and to be recognized in this manner is so very special. I would also like to acknowledge all the other prize winners and songwriters who entered this contest. There’s so much great talent in this city, and opportunities like this allow the community to experience and support these artists that work so hard.”
Awards include cash prizes, recording of audio and visual performances, industry consultation, including photo sessions and presentation in performance on The Aeolian’s Legendary stage. Songs were written specifically for this competition and could not have been released before the competition started. Sponsors included McFarlan Rowlands and Ecclesiastical Insurance. Winning Songs should be released in the next day on Aeolian’s website and socials."
