Let us introduce you to ”The Flag”, a collaborative crochet art piece from an artist and a Ukranian boy. The crocheted artwork came to be when the young boy drew an image of peace as his country turned into a state of war. The artist, along with the boy and his sister, came together to create this symbol of peace and love with Ukraine’s national colours. The intent of this project is to bring awareness to the turmoil in Ukraine but, also to express hope and unity amongst people.

London is fortunate to be a part of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network (UCCN) as a City of Music, along with 74 other cities around the world. Katowice, Poland and Norköpping, Sweden, two other UNESCO Cities of Music worked with the artist to display ”The Flag” quilt at the UNESCO Cities of Music annual meeting in Norköpping in February 2023.

London will be hosting the UNESCO Cities of Music annual meeting at the end of this February, and we are pleased to announce that ”The Flag” will be on display for this important meeting of the Music Cities. This art piece will then travel on to other host cities in the years to come.
