Canada’s Music Incubator (CMI) is introducing the Financial Literacy for the Music Industry program across Canada to fill a longstanding gap in practical, understandable, and accessible financial mentorship specific to the music industry.
“Artists and music industry professionals in CMI’s community consistently identify financial sustainability as their primary business objective,” says Vel Omazic, CEO & Co-Founder, CMI. “While entrepreneurship and fiscal responsibility have been foundational to CMI’s Artist Entrepreneur professional development offerings for years, this program gives us the time to go much deeper, and to personalize the experience by travelling to a number of cities across the country.”
The Financial Literacy for the Music Industry program is FREE and is open for up to 20 musicians and music industry professionals per session.
Everything kicks-off on September 20 & 21, 9am-5pm, at Innovation Works (201 King St.) in London, ON, Canada’s UNESCO City of Music in partnership with the London Music Office and Tourism London. Applications are open until August 26. Limited spaces are available, so early applications are strongly encouraged! Apply now! Eligible participants must be 18 years of age or older and actively working in the music industry.
Additional markets are being added across the country through late 2025 and early 2026 and will be announced separately as details are confirmed. If you’re interested in bringing this program to your community or organization please reach out to CMI.
Developed in collaboration with Sprackman Terrence, one of Canada’s leading entertainment business management and accounting firms, this program covers key topics such as business structures, foundational tax concepts, budgeting, industry-focused eligible business expenses, financial planning, risk management, royalties and more. This program is a mix of full group and 1-on-1 training, and all attendees will have access to ongoing mentorship from CMI.
The London program is also supported by Tourism London, the City of London, and the London Music Office. This initiative is made possible nationally by the generous support of RBC, with provincial support from Ontario Creates.
