New Provincial Strategy To Wrap Up Health Restrictions

The Premier announced the new provincial strategy to wrap up public health restrictions, the Plan to Safely Reopen Ontario and Manage COVID-19 for the Long-Term.The Province has stated they “intend to lift capacity limits in the remaining higher-risk settings where proof of vaccination is required, including food or drink establishments with dance facilities” on November 15. More information to come.

  • The plan gradually phases out public health measures, with monthly reductions until a complete lifting of all restrictions by March 28th, 2022. A summary of the steps follows:
  • October 25: Lifting capacity limits in most settings where proof of vaccination is required, including restaurants, gyms, casinos, and meeting and event spaces. Other settings may lift capacity and physical distancing requirements if they choose to require proof of vaccination, including salons and tourist attractions.
  • November 15: Lifting remaining capacity restrictions where proof of vaccination is required, including night clubs and wedding receptions in event spaces.
  • January 17, 2022: Assuming no concerning trends at the time, proof of vaccination requirements may begin to be lifted.
  • February 7, 2022: Further lifting of vaccination requirements (night clubs, etc.)
  • March 28, 2022: All remaining public health and workplace safety measures lifted, including masking indoors. There may be a decision to make different recommendations for specific settings.
