North American Creative Cities Forum

London stepped onto the international stage as Canada’s first and only UNESCO City of Music in November 2021. Saveria & Jordan MacDonald of Texas King became the voices of London’s UNESCO announcement video and ambassadors for our community.

August 10-12th the North American UNESCO Creative Cities gathered in the beautiful city of Querétaro, Mexico for the North American Creative Cities Forum. A robust, three days of presentations, meetings and performances from across all fields bringing together creatives for interdisciplinary collaboration and exchange.

During the gathering of the North American and Caribbean Creative Cities, exchanges of inspirational ideas, policies and best practices enriched conversations.

London’s Saveria and Jordan MacDonald (of Texas King) we’re invited to perform. After a series of weather conditions, mechanical and staffing issues en route to Mexico we finally arrived. Due to travel cancellations, flight delays and unexpected groundings at airports, we missed our schedule performances and presentations. This resulted in Jordan having to leave early and head back to Canada to fulfill existing performance obligations. The team behind the event (COMIC & Secretaries De Cultura in Querétaro) worked tirelessly to accommodate our performances and presentation. Because of their hard work and dedication, we salvaged some of our intended performances. Saveria was able to rock the stage and wow 🤩 all the Creative Cities & festival goers in Querétaro.

An enormous thank you for all the support and love we were shown in Mexico. The organizers are incredible people who helped make memories we’ll never forgot and opportunities we’re thrilled to pursue! Gracias amigos!

While it was an exchange filled with constant interruptions including 35 hours of travel time to Querétaro, we definitely made the most of it helping showcase London’s music community internationally.

Thank you Saveria, Jordan MacDonald (here’s to next time), the entire UNESCO Creatives Cities Network and all the amazing friends that we made. Salut 🇲🇽

An enormous thank you to the Creative Cities of Mexico, COMIC, Secreatari De Cultura, all the UCCN Focal Points we met, the city of Querétaro & their UNESCO Team, the supportive volunteers, sound techs, stage hands, chefs and all the folks that helped us get there 🚌 🚕 ✈️

Mexican culture is so jovial and artistic. It’s a rich culture filled with celebration and enjoyment of life. Thank you 🇲🇽 for having us and sharing!
